ShellShocked Outdoors is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, Fed ID# 27-4741056, devoted to introducing the youth of America to God's Great Outdoors, whether they are disadvantaged, have special needs, or simply need a mentor. We take kids on hunting and fishing adventures each and every year. Our sponsors help us meet the expenses of these annual adventures through their generous donations of cash and products. We also have fund raisers throughout the year. Please check out our website and we invite you to donate to this very worthy cause.ellShocked Outdoors is a 501(c)3, Non-Profit organization devoted to introducing the youth of America to God's Great Outdoors.
Author John Stallon is donating a portion of the sales of his book to SSO Youth Hunts.
Jim Newcomb, President
Born and raised in western Oklahoma, he learned to hunt at an early age. His Grandfather, uncles and cousins were always taking him hunting and fishing.
Raised in a divorced family environment, Jim learned the importance of good friends and the closeness of his extended family at a young age. He remembers one his best friends dad's taking him along on camping and fishing trips. he was a Boy Scout and excelled in the things related with the outdoors. Jim volunteer's all of his time to SSO
Today Jim has a vision to introduce as many boys and girls to the outdoors as he possibly can. He also tells them about the love relationship he has with Jesus Christ, his savior
R.J. Whitworth, 2nd VP
R.J.has been blessed from generations of outdoorsmen in his family, its finally his turn. As a new father, and great volunteer for SSO, he hopes to continue the great tradition of enjoying and respecting the great outdoors that God has created for us.
From cool spring mornings watching the sun come up, waiting for the first gobble, to cold winter mornings in freezing temperatures, listening to the sound of whistling wings, seeing that first greenhead cupped over the decoys. Looking forward to those cool fall days down in the Arkansas bottoms and hearing footsteps in the dry leaves, and all of a sudden seeing nothing but big nasty deer horns. Getting to share all of this with family and friends makes it even better.
Steven Christenson, SR VP
Steven lives in Greenwood, AR. He’s been a hunter since day one. He can remember in his younger days waking up at the crack of dawn and hopping in his grandpa’s truck to go hunt down that monster buck. He hunts just about anything that moves.
Although he lives in Arkansas he is a big OU fan. He's also a big fan of bow hunting and enjoys shooting in bow competitions. He doesn’t mind a little fishing now and then, actually he is very good at it. Steven is known for taking kids hunting and fishing.
Steven also volunteers his time to SSO. Steven also likes training his dogs and watching them perform while retrieving ducks or running while Coon Hunting at night..
Brooke Whitworth, Secratary
Brooke volunteers as the Secretary for SSO. It is her job to take care of organizing the by-laws, take minutes at quarterly board meetings, answer questions for potential sponsors and also assist all she can in any capacity needed at SSO Fund Raisers.
Brooke is also an accomplished hunter in her own right. You can't help but learn the sport of hunting when you are married to R.J. Whitworth. Their home looks like a wildlife museum, with all the beautiful mounts on the wall. Brooke and R.J. have two young children who at very young ages can identify wildlife in the woods.
Rachel Beam, VP-Graphics
Rachel is not only our photographer and graphics designer, she is accomplished in hunting and fishing. She loves nothing more than to be in the outdoors with her husband Austin and her son Eli. Her biggest passions would be catfishing and waterfowl hunts.
She says she will never forget her first duck hunt with her 410, She limited out. The Duck Commander heard this story and deemed her "Duck Woman".
She encourages other young ladies to get involved with the outdoors and is certified to work with young kids. Rachel is a giving soul who, like the other Board Members, volunteers her time to SSO.
Cortney Parsley, Treasurer
Cortney volunteers her talents as Treasurer for SSO. Cortney is in charge of maintaining and securing the finances for SSO. She works closely with the President and Sr. VP informing them of bank account balances, along with the cost of upcoming events and the funds available for those events and additional funds needed to complete the event.
Like the others on this board, she understands what the outdoors has to offer a young child. Having a young child of her own, she knows the importance of expsoing him to the wonders of the outdoors life skills he will gain.
